I'm looking for advice on the IT theme on a very small office since I am the 'computer guy' in the family, it's my uncle's office.
They have:

Users: 3 (administration, accounting and manager), and I will create a new one for me as the IT guy }:)

Computers:

  • 3 Win10 (Dell Optiplex XXXX)

  • 1 HP Proliant DL360G6 (Xeon E5504, 8GB RAM, 3x146GB 10K SAS, 2x 300G 10K SAS) (which I recently bought on a public auction, before they used an old computer as "server")

They use the typical software for invoice and accounting and some other spreadsheets software, email, and all of this kind of things.

My problem is that I do not know how would be the best and most professional implementation for all of these.
First of all: the storage part, well they don't actually have / need a lot of storage, the maximum amount of docs and all files that they have is about 100GB.
My plan firstly was to use the 300GB disks as data storage (and maybe do it as RAID 1) but I am not sure if it is a good plan.
Then, on the server, I am not sure of soing virtualization or not. Some of the people I've talk to says that I have no enough server capacity to do it, and some says it's better to virtualize cause you can copy the VM entirely and do backups of that.

For now, what I did is installed the Win2016Server bare metal on one of the 146GB disks, to test it. Implemented the ActiveDirectory and some more.

They need an Win7 to serve the accounting software wich is not legally at all, and the former it guy has. So my plan was to install VMWare or HyperV (don't know) inside of the 2016 and run it that way.

I need to connect remotely to the server, and I open the ports on the ISP router and redirected it to the RDP, but this I think is not at all secure. My firstly idea was to implement a VPN server but don't know how.

Well, sorry but English is not my first tongue.

Any ideas or advice?? Thanks a lot in advance.
