Say I’ve been issued the address 176.168.2.50/18
First I would need to find out the network part before I start subnetting? If it’s in the third octet (since it’s a /18) then why would they give me a .50 in the fourth octet, since I’m just going to get rid of it when I start subnetting and make my own subnet masks?
After I’ve found the network part I can start subnetting... But what about if I subnet so much I reach the network part? Do I just have to stop subnetting?
I get how to do the calculations but I’m not too sure how all this actually works in the real world
