I'm a Kubernetes newbie following along with a K8s intro video. The command kubectl api-resources is referred to, but that command isn't recognized by my kubectl. I went back to the start of the video, and the instructor did a kubectl version. I do this and get:

Client Version: version.Info{Major:"1", Minor:"10", GitVersion:"v1.10.11", GitCommit:"637c7e288581ee40ab4ca210618a89a555b6e7e9", GitTreeState:"clean", BuildDate:"2018-11-26T14:38:32Z", GoVersion:"go1.9.3", Compiler:"gc", Platform:"darwin/amd64"}
Server Version: version.Info{Major:"1", Minor:"14", GitVersion:"v1.14.0", GitCommit:"641856db18352033a0d96dbc99153fa3b27298e5", GitTreeState:"clean", BuildDate:"2019-03-25T15:45:25Z", GoVersion:"go1.12.1", Compiler:"gc", Platform:"linux/amd64"}

On the instructor's machine, both the Client and Server versions showed v1.14.0. As you can see, my Client Version shows 1.10.11. I'm guessing that this difference explains why I don't have the kubectl api-resources subcommand.

I believe that my kubectl came with the rest of Docker for Mac. Doing which kubectl seems to verify this, as it gives:

/Applications/Docker.app/Contents/Resources/bin/kubectl

Can someone tell me how to update my version of kubectl or do whatever else is appropriate so that I have "Client Version" 1.14.0 and/or so that I have the api-resources subcommand? Even some insight into why this difference in versions exists would be helpful.
