AWS provides an exhaustive list of IP addresses that can be filtered by region and/or service. However, when doing a dig or nslookup of the Route53 DNS entry mapped to the DNS name of a Classic ELB, the commands return non-authoritative ip addresses that do not fall into this range of IP addresses that AWS provides.
Although dated, there are blog entries which explain in depth how ELBs are in actuality mapped to several IP addresses that (by design) represent a fluctuating number of virtual ELB appliances managed by AWS.
Does AWS Provide a pool of IP addresses used by its internal ELB virtual appliances? If so, why aren't these ranges also included in the publicly available list that Amazon provides?
