I'm running Virtualmin GPL 5.07 on a CentOS virtual guest with 2GB RAM.
Sometimes, when a few email messages are arriving simultaneously, several instances of 'clamscan' start up, each one using a couple hundred MB of RAM, which effectively eats almost all the RAM and causes other software like MySQL to die due to "no available memory".
How can I either disable the clamav scan for incoming emails, or even force clamav to run a single instance instead of starting a new instance for each incoming message?
Thanks for any pointers.

I know this question is almost 1 year old, however, as it still comes up in searches i am going to provide an answer for the benefit of others who may see this.
Virtualmin developers (as well as other virtualmin users) suggest that one option is to disable spamassassin and clamav completely.
The alternative is to send/receive your mail through another hosting provider and utilise their spam and antivirus features.
I did this on my server (has 2GB ram). The difference in ram usages was an immediate 40% reduction in ram usage by disabling both (65% down to 25% RAM).
I havent decided yet on who i will to do my mail but i am thinking running it through a relay such as sendgrid or mailchimp to a different host.
I am no expert, this is just what i am doing for the time being.
My question was how to disable clamav, not should I disable it. You didn't actually answer the question.
