I am running Windows Server 2016 Essentials. I had a number of issues with update database and registering new devices on the network over the last few days. I did a lot of reading ran dism, sfc, various troubleshooting tools, deleted and tried to reinstall windows updates but nothing worked. Ultimately I decided that I needed to use the Server 2016 boot disk and run the repair tool, since I need to save all my files.
It seemed to work fine. Windows installed. the machine rebooted, downloaded updates, and rebooted again. Now it is sitting on a black screen with the circular Windows loading don't spinning around. No Windows logo, just the dots. Its been like this for close to an hour. Should I continue to let it spin or restart it manually. The processor makes a little noise every few seconds but not much.
